Another characteristic of Tutter is that he has big dreams and thinks big about himself but often finds himself at a loss when asked to describe what's unique or special about him. When Tutter is annoyed or upset about something, he will sometimes start shouting names of cheeses as if they were epithets. He likes to do these things perfectly and gets upset sometimes when they don't seem to be working out. Role in the series
He checks his calendar to see if there's anything special coming up and finds that tomorrow is Teacher Appreciation Day. Bear heads over to Mouse School just before soccer practice to see if Tutter and his classmates know, and finds that they were all just in the middle of talking about how much they like Miss Maxwell. Bear explains what "appreciation" means and inspires the mice to show Miss Maxwell how much they appreciate her the next day. Today is Tutter's birthday, and the friends in the Big Blue House decide to throw him a special surprise birthday party.

Bear in the Big Blue House is a TV series that ran for four seasons, from 1997 to 2003. The show was created by Mitchell Kriegman and developed with The Jim Henson Company for Disney Channel. That night, Bear and Luna express their appreciation for each other.
Besides his Grandma Flutter, who has taught him many things, he also has cousins, aunts, and uncles (although his parents have never been seen nor mentioned). In the fourth season of the program, Tutter began attending Mouse School, taught by Miss Maxwell. Tutter (born Tutter T. Tutter) is a blue mouse who lives in the Big Blue House with Bear on Bear in the Big Blue House. Tutter now lives in his mousehole, but for a time, he was raised by his Grandma Flutter, according to "The Big Little Visitor". Bear has baby pictures of him, so it's not known exactly when he moved into the Big Blue House.

He happily tells Bear the good news, but decides he isn't quite ready for Bear to leave yet. Bear welcomes you inside (you smell like paper and paste!) and takes you into the kitchen. Today is finally Tutter's very first day at Mouse School, and everybody's talking about it.

Later, Shadow appears and tells Tutter and Bear the story of The Lion and the Mouse. The story inspires Tutter to show Lilly his appreciation, so he lets Miss Maxwell know the poem was Lilly's idea after they recite it the next day. Back at the Big Blue House, Tutter and the rest of the gang surprise Bear with a plate of corn fritters and let him know how much they appreciate him for taking care of them. Tutter has his mousehole in the house, while most of the other young characters only spend the day here. After the mice have their nap, Tutter shyly watches Keisha and Luke as they construct a block tower. He's a little nervous about asking Miss Maxwell for help addressing his feelings instead of Bear, but decides to give his teacher a chance to help him.
Storyline
Pip and Pop are placed in charge of the decorations, but run into trouble with the balloons. All the noise attracts Tutter, but Bear manages to head him off with our help. Tutter learns that having a birthday means becoming a year older. He speculates on all the great things he'll be able to do while he's older. Treelo, though, gets so excited about the birthday that at first he wants to keep the present for himself and wishes that it was his birthday too.

At the end of each program, Bear heads to the attic of the house and talks with his friend Luna, the moon, about the day's events. The two sing "The Goodbye Song" and notable scenes from the episode are shown in brief. Sometimes, at the opening of the program, Bear will have a talk with Ray. In the fourth season of the program, Woodland Valley, the community at large, is featured much more heavily. Tutter the mouse is shown attending school, many new characters are introduced and the "Good Morning" song and real-kids segments are no longer featured.
Doc Hogg even stops by to wish Tutter well and shares a cry with Bear over how much Tutter's growing up. But when Tutter realizes Bear is only dropping him off at school, his fears catch up with him and he begins to worry that he won't fit in. Bear helps Tutter through his worries and agrees to wait outside the school until Tutter's comfortable with being there on his own. On October 19, 2022, the series began streaming on Disney+ with nine episodes missing at time of launch. Bear in the Big Blue House is aimed at teaching lessons to preschool and early school-age children. In each episode, Bear explores learning concepts such as feelings, the alphabet, nature, science and more with the kids of the Big Blue House and/or out in Woodland Valley.
Bear lives in the Big Blue House where he is a caregiver for his friends Ojo, a bear cub; Tutter, a mouse; Treelo, a lemur; otters Pip and Pop; and storyteller Shadow. Those normally include solving problems, sharing, cooperating with each other, and developing social/life skills. Tutter learns that having a birthday means becoming 1 year older. At the beginning of each episode, Bear welcomes viewers to his house and tells them that he thinks they smell good. After talking with one or more of the characters, he introduces the show theme, or "Word of the Day" and sometimes sings a song about it. This segment, in the first three seasons, is often followed by one in which real kids discuss the topic of the day. Afterwards, Bear usually explores the house or valley, talking with the kids and aiding/assisting them as necessary. He will also sometimes stop to find Shadow, who shares a story related to the theme of the day.
With her encouragement, Tutter joins his classmates, only to accidentally knock down their block tower. Tutter worries for a moment that he's blown it, but his classmates are welcoming and invite him to build the next tower with them. Bear checks up on Tutter one last time, and the mouse finally decides he's ready for Bear to leave. Tutter thanks Bear for his help and eagerly rejoins his classmates. He gets a little worried when Miss Maxwell approaches him, but she assures Tutter that everything is okay and even compliments his drawing. The mice all begin to feel a little sleepy, so Miss Maxwell gets them ready for nap time.
