Charles and a friend, Jack Prescott, deliver some tables, hand-made by Charles, to a store in Minneapolis, for which Charles makes a few "as a hobby". After Jack dies suddenly of a heart attack on the return trip, and after which his farm is sold and his nameplate casually tossed into the kindling by the new owner, Charles decides he wants to do something to be remembered for. Albert starts to spend all his spare time training with Gambini, but is brought down to earth when one of the daredevil's most dangerous stunts goes wrong. When Christmas comes around, all the Ingalls are caught up in the secrecy and excitement.

Nels later reminds Harriet that his mother similarly opposed their marriage, and he says he has never regretted it. Meanwhile, Mrs. Flannery, a childless elderly friend of Laura's, passes away after gifting her big house to Laura and Almanzo, who set about turning it into a boardinghouse, and Willie and Rachel move in as their first boarders. Mrs. Oleson spreads the news around the town, suggesting that Albert is the father. To raise money, Albert gets a job with the town's blacksmith, Irv Hartwig (Richard Jaeckel). When Mr. Webb finds out that Sylvia is still seeing Albert, he grabs his shotgun and goes to the Ingalls' house. They manage to convince him that Albert did not make Sylvia pregnant, but Sylvia has run off.

Ingalls family, and finally gets the opportunity to go to school. The reaction of bigoted Mrs. Oleson (Katherine MacGregor) is a treat when Charles tells her that Solomon is his son from a previous marriage….Every few minutes your heart is pulled in another direction. After watching the rest of the family tending to the baby, Laura walks outside and wads up her paper and throws it away. That night, Mary says an extra prayer for her new baby brother, but Laura refuses to do it even though Ma asked them to. Laura shows Pa a school report, but Caroline calls him away to look at how the baby is eating before he has a chance to thoroughly look at the paper. In this episode, Nellie falls from a horse and milks her injuries for all they're worth, claiming paralysis so she can get waited on hand and foot. When Laura finds out Nellie's faking it, she pays her back by sending her careening down a hill in her wheelchair — and revealing the truth that Nellie can walk just fine. It's hard to imagine "Little House on the Prairie" without Alison Arngrim's spoiled, often deliciously mean Nellie Oleson.

Bateman, on the other hand, was an actual character on "Little House." Starting in the seventh season, he played Jason Cooper, an orphan the Ingalls family takes in. During my recovery from my neck surgery a month ago, I binged the two seasons of Euphoria. And they get lost along the way, which we portray on Little House on the Prairie. Joe Kagan gives up his farm and moves to Sleepy Eye to work with Jonathan Garvey in his freight business and hoping to persuade Hester-Sue to marry him.

And, as if determined not to be topped by anything that went before it, the show also made sure to have a literally explosive finale, as Walnut Grove's citizens blew up their own town. "Little House on the Prairie" had Michael Landon's stamp on it from the beginning, and he exerted a lot of creative control over the show — so much, in fact, that he reportedly drove away Ed Friendly, his co-executive producer. In a 1974 interview with People, Friendly complained that Landon had no business being a writer or producer. He thought Landon strayed too far from the books in giving the Ingalls family an easier life.
Lars Hanson summons his final strength and appears before the townspeople to thank them for revitalizing the town he founded. Laura explains that Mr. Hanson died peacefully a few months later, happy in the knowledge that the town he loved would live on. After Caroline complains about the small size of her kitchen, Charles decides to build an addition onto the house, but after starting the work he has to leave to take a rush delivery to Mankato. Caroline hires a handsome young handyman named Chris Nelson (Gil Gerard) to complete the job. Nellie and Mrs. Oleson don't help matters when they share Mary's suspicions.
When Mary asks Rhoda if she could change something on television, Rhoda mentions Mrs. Oleson. Additionally, Little House on the Prairie was overdubbed in many countries, including in German, "Unsere Kleine Farm", and in French, "La Petite Maison dans la Prairie". Seasons one through for have been released in Germany, with overdubs of the voices but still the same actors. But for some, Landon's cozier vision was a draw, and the show was a fine expression of his warmer side. Cindy Landon, his widow, told Closer, "If you watch 'Little House,' truly it was like watching Michael. The love that he had for his family, the type of person he was — it was all apparent." She wasn't alone in thinking that. In an interview with CBS, Melissa Gilbert said without hesitation, "The show's values ... were absolutely a reflection of the values of our leader, of Michael Landon. He was that man. He believed that people are always really good at heart."
